Hope the study is going well and that you are prepared for the GAT tomorrow.

Tuesday the 12th of June

Hello all,

I managed (I'm not sure how) to not have to cover a class today periods 3 and 4, so I'm available for you to come and talk to about maths (or chemistry) during that time.

I'll be in my office or the staffroom.

Hope that long long weekend treated you well.

ANZAC Day

Dear Methodites,

As you are aware we have ANZAC Day on Wednesday the 25th of April.  Some of you will be going to the football, the best of you will be going to see the Avengers.

None of you will come to school.

This is an issue as we have our double on Wednesdays.

For this reason, on Monday, I am starting class 20 minutes early and finishing it and hour late.

That means that you come to class after a 35 minute lunch break and leave class at 4:12pm.

You will be given an assignment to do between leaving Monday and arriving on Thursday.

It will be from checkpoints and there is a good chance it will be a question that will be useful in the SAC.

On Thursday (that's the day after ANZAC day) we'll have a class period 4.

This allows us to go into lunch for 20 minutes.

I will be repeating the start early and finish late class on the 30th of April because we need to get more practice doing applications.

Thursday's class will also be extended.

During the two week SAC I will be available after school/class to discuss similar problems to those in the SAC that will probably be found in the text book or in checkpoints.

Enjoy the weekend,

Sketch lots.

SAC

Dear Methods people.

Please remember that the SAC is starting at 1:45 and going through until the end of the day or 90 minutes later (whichever is longer (it's 90 minutes later)).

Please go to http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/mathematics/cas/casexams.html to have a look at the formula sheet that you will be provided. so that you don't have any overlaps.

Remember that it is better to go through the practise SAC and fill in gaps.  Please do not try to cram in all of chapters 1, 2, 3 and 4.  You will not be able to do this.

I have made the practise as similar to the SAC as I can.

While I was in a meeting yesterday I did the Maths on how the assessment is broken down and the SAC on Monday is worth about 3% of your final mark.
That being said, it helps you prepare for your EXAM 2 which is worth 44% of your final mark.

This is not a value judgement just some data for you to look think about.

See you all on Monday.

Wednesday and Thursday

Dear all,
As I'm sure you are all aware, there are some major disruption this week because of the lesser sciences.
If you are serious about have enough time to prepare properly for the SAC I would advise you to attempt 4A and 4B.
They are pretty straight forward (and short).  My advice is to do every questions and the odd parts of multipart questions (i.e a, c, e, etc)

I will be available after school every day this week and Tuesday of next week for assistance with these exercises. We have the SAC soon, and next week is the last week of content so it's important that you are doing work at home.

Those of you who are on thefacebook could you 'post' or whatever this note so those who have not yet subscribed can get this information.

Thank you
MDE

After athletics

Just a note to say thank you to those of you who came to the class after school today.
For those of you who didn't come, please come and see me tomorrow if you need help with anything.
We're going to be finishing off the content on Monday and while I'm on camp you'll be expected to do the test for chapter 3. You will need to put the test on my desk or in my pigeon hole FRIDAY so that I can mark them over the weekend.
I won't be accepting them on Monday.
If you decide to submit it late I'll just give you the solutions and you can mark it yourself.

Please do the test during the time you wold have had class.
It'll take between 2 and 3 hours to do.

Remember that the week after camp is a write off as well because of chem and physics. So I want the Monday lesson to start chapter 4 and go through difficulties in the test.

See you Monday

First Post

Hello and welcome to the first post for 2012 for the MDE maths blog,

On this blog I will be posting import things that you need to know and interesting (read: helpful) things that I find or am sent.

Your first task is to subscribe to this blog and post a comment including who you are and which of my classes you are in (this will let me know who is getting this information).

First a little bit of rule making.

Basically, this is a school blog and is thus to be used for school work and discussion about school work only.
If you write or post something that is inappropriate I'll take a copy of the screen before deleting it and hand the copy over to senior school.  No warnings, no negotiation.

Of course, that's not going to happen.

If you have an issue with a particular problem put it on as a comment.
If someone posts a problem that you know how to solve, reply to the comment with your solution.
